O God of Second Chances...
"Here I Am Again"
Read about something new soon to be available:
Please consider special requests at the end of this post, about something you can do for me.
3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
4 Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. (KJV)
"Exciting" describes many events surrounding the song "Here I am Again." I've been waiting to write an update to let you know what is happening with the demo CD that Dean Slocum had been working on. He not only composed most of the words, and the music, but used his expertise do create the demo. He played the music, hired singers and added their input, track by track.
The Lord's goodness surrounding the song has amazed me. (For a fuller account of how things started, see the previous archived 'Thoughts from Nancy.') God has gone ahead of our efforts and opened opportunities before we even asked. I keep thinking about Mat 6:8 KJV. Jesus talks about prayer. "...your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him."
I still am amazed how Dean saw my thirteen word poem on a church marquee in Nashville, where he lives. He traced me through the World Wide Web. He had the integrity to ask permission to incorporate my words into his "project."
God was answering my prayer to leave behind me a song or hymn that would draw people to Himself. He apparently has answered my request to have some possible source of income. He knew I didn’t know where to find someone honest and knowledgeable about recording and how the music industry works. For good measure, He also provided in Dean someone savvy about contracts. Unbelievable! (That is, if we didn’t understand we have a wonder-working God who knows the desires of our hearts.)
Dean had a special first choice singer to pitch the demo to. Then he went to Texas to perform with the Houston Symphony Orchestra with Crystal Gayle. There, Crystal shared a dressing room with another singer, whom both Dean and I admire. In the strange way that God works, the demo CD was given to her, instead.
Many factors go into who records what, and when. We have no assurances the second singer will record the song. Who knows what is being worked in changes, and in the providence of God?
So, at present, Dean says simply to tell people that things are going well. The production of the demo CD went very well. We’ll disclose more, later.
You may be interested in seeing pictures of the Houston Symphony performance and of President Bush 41's party. Pictures of the eightieth birthday skydive will be coming. At present, Dean’s wife Sherry posted photos she took at the Bushes’ VIP Reception. Perhaps you may recognize some of the unidentified guests. The address for her website is: http://www.charion.com
Now, on to the announcement.
Thomas Simmons, a professional calligrapher, did the rendering of "O God of Second Chances" seen at the top of the page. He has provided me the remainder of his prints, and graciously matted them, backed them, and made them ready for shipping in plastic sleeves. They will be available soon.
Bev Miller, my web designer at Silverleaf Design, soon will post examples of how the prints look with either a typical rectangular mat, or with an oval mat, in selected colors. Tom mentioned that burgundy and earth toned mats look very nice. There will be two sizes. The 8 x 10 fits in a typical photo frame. The 8˝ x 11 is a pleasing dimension requiring special framing, or a ready made document sized frame.
You will be able to order through GodThoughts.com shopping cart. That way you may pay by credit card. We will be posting prices for individual prints and for a small discount on larger orders.
If you prefer to pay by check, or if you wish me to sign the print, you could do so by sending me an e-mail order. We’ll have to see how I can do the signature unobtrusively so it doesn’t detract from the beauty of the print.
With much anticipation about the book proposal about our God of Second Chances which I hope to take to a writers’ conference in August, I’d appreciate your prayers for the testimonies and scriptures to include.
If any of you has a dramatic story of your Second Chance from God and would like to share it, either at GodThoughts.com, or possibly for the book, I’d be grateful to receive it by e-mail.
Also, I need much prayer for strength, stamina, and relief of pain as I travel, and as I stay with a writer friend, Carolyn, for a month as we work on the book proposal.
