I am amazed at how some people act as though they are smarter than God. They reinterpret rules and mores to conform to society's present practices. Going beyond that, many fads come along, and we are assured that a new way of freedom promises relief from the malaise of the world. After throwing off contraints, in about thirty years, wiser people realize that God's prescribed way is better.
I am so glad that God has given, and preserved, His precepts throughout history. I am so glad that I don't have to come up with my own commandments or search blindly for His will. That could be a lifelong task with no assurance that I had found God's truth.
I am glad that beyond obedience to God's truth there is mercy and grace. None of us can perfectly keep the law. Jesus is the only one who did that. I am so glad that God sees Jesus' record, not mine, when justice has to be satisfied. Jesus' shed blood, His death, and resurrection assure me an eternity in heaven. That is because I asked for forgiveness and claimed His righteousness.
I don't have to rewrite or reinterpret God's rules to suit my behavior. What I needed to do was accept God's remedy for my wrongdoing. Then I was given a new life, a new outlook, and the power of the Holy Spirit within to help me live according to God's ways. Thank God He has enlightened my understanding to know that He knows best.
